Uncomfortable Ornament I

Uncomfortable Ornament explores the leaps in function undertaken by familiar forms, where strange connections lead a mundane object such as a baluster to acquire the symbolic meaning of a seemingly unrelated pomegranate. Using the numerous design and making iterations, the project understands the baluster as a peculiar example of an ornamented architectural form, and unsuccessfully aims to distort its appearance beyond familiarity.

This project forms a part of the wider Gained In Translation project which was exhibited at the XXI Milan Triennale.
